About Edmunds Law Office
Fritz Edmunds is the Lawyer You Want in Your Corner
He’s a Fighter
He repeatedly overcomes difficult odds – in life and in his practice for his clients.
After breaking his neck and becoming paralyzed as he was finishing college, Mr. Edmunds later went on to law school and finished the three-year program in just two years while also serving as a presidential appointee to a federal board in Washington, DC while traveling back and forth from Kansas City. He has been practicing law ever since; for more than 25 years. He does not whine about his “disability.” Mr. Edmunds does not define himself by his paralysis but it motivates him to persevere and come up with the best ways to solve problems.
He’s Uniquely Qualified
Only an exclusive number of lawyers in the US have experience in Litigation, Business/Mergers & Acquisitions, Contract Negotiation & Drafting, plus experience in Employment law with a background in Regulatory law.
Who better to negotiate and draft contracts than a lawyer who has actually prepared and tried cases in court dealing with contract interpretation and enforcement?
And who better to help grow your business and protect against costly and dangerous litigation than a lawyer who has prepared businesses for sale through the M&A marketing process, been on both sides of employment cases, and served in Washington, D.C. promulgating federal regulations? (Mr. Edmunds was appointed by Pres. George H.W. Bush on recommendation by Sen. Bob Dole). Mr. Edmunds’ efforts saved US tax-payers literally hundreds of millions of dollars.
He’s Well-Connected
People often say, “Fritz knows everyone!” While that’s not exactly true, Mr. Edmunds is especially well-known and respected in the legal community, business circles, and the political world. He is regarded as a “connector” who knows many people and can get things done through whatever channels are needed. When people ask him how he achieves the unexpected, he’s been known to quip with a grin, “It’s not who you know, it’s who I know.”
He’s Independent
Without any law firm billing quotas or pressure to pursue the interests of partners, Mr. Edmunds can and does dedicate his time and his efforts 100% to his clients. This also lets him offer true, outside perspective on important matters without fear of losing a firm’s big client. Mr. Edmunds has built his practice based on this quote by economist Dr. Thomas Sowell: “When you want to help people you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.”
He’s Trusted
Mr. Edmunds is one of the “good guys.” He knows that his reputation is most important and through his values he is highly motivated to always do the right thing. So he says what he is going to do and he does what he says he will. Ask around, you’ll find that anyone who knows Fritz Edmunds understands that his word is his bond, and that you won’t find a more honest lawyer – or person.
He’s Nimble
Understandably, people wonder if the wheelchair presents any problems. But Mr. Edmunds prides himself on making sure it’s not an issue. He has perfected a system whereby he works primarily in his home-office but travels wherever and whenever needed. With the utilization of speech-to-text and other technology, Mr. Edmunds drafts faster than he could type in college. His production and his long line of successes for hundreds of clients over more than two decades speak for themselves.
“When you want to help people you tell them the truth. When you want to help yourself, you tell them what they want to hear.”
~ Dr. Thomas Sowell
My Philosophy
The world and the courts are filled with people looking to take advantage of others. Whether it’s a made up claim of discrimination against a business because they have deep pockets, or it’s an insurance company not paying what they should on a claim because they know the insured probably won’t have the time, the money, or the energy to fight. Injustice will always exist in this life, but when I can help prevent it that’s one way I can add value for others.
Adding value for others is one of the biggest keys to happiness for us all. You likely won’t hear other lawyers talk about this kind of stuff. I also don’t hesitate to talk about my faith that I hope colors everything I do. But I thought I was dead when I broke my neck in a diving accident in 1985 and it opened my eyes to the most important things. I guess that’s why I’ve got an uncommon practice and an uncommon outlook on life. No one’s life is perfect or easy; we all have challenges and difficulty.
But so what? Rather than complain or compare, we need to face our adversity and deal with it head-on … without feeling like a victim. I’ve been blessed with the ability and the strength to help others overcome obstacles and adversity after overcoming my own. If I can help you overcome yours, I would be honored to be your lawyer.
